Technology Grants for Rural Schools program was created to help meet the growing need for innovative technology in the classroom. The grants strive to help public schools in rural areas served by OPASTCO members bring modern computers to every classroom, connect schools to the information superhighway and make sure that effective and engaging software and online resources are an integral part of the school curriculum. $35,000 will be awarded to public schools nominated by OPASTCO telcos. Grants range from $1,000 - $5,000. No matching required. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2012.

j a detailed narrative no longer than three single-spaced, 8 1/2” x 11” typed pages that
addresses each area of the scoring criteria, provides financial and logistical details on how the grant
will be used, lists who will be assigned responsibility for implementation and defines anticipated
results. Narrative should state specific effects the project and/or equipment will have on students’
education, whether or not the technology is new to the school and specifically address budgetary
implementation for the project and/or equipment;
k a detailed budget for total grant money requested and how it will be used; and
l a letter of nomination from OPASTCO member telephone company.
Deadline
Grant applications are due in the FRED office by November 1, 2012. Applications cannot be faxed
